“Despite the forecast, live like it’s spring.”
-Lilly Pulitzer, socialite and fashion designer
Spring has sprung! At least that’s what the calendar says. I don’t know about you but I’m not really feeling it weather wise here in the northeast section of the country. Just this past Monday my city looked like a winter wonderland. There are plenty of folks that say “this is normal spring weather”; I’m still not pleased. However I’m not going to let a few flurries stop me from enjoying the colors of spring; and you should not either.
Below are the hottest colors for spring according to Pantone’s Spring 2013 Fashion Color Report. They are bright, bold and sure to bring an unexpected twist to your current wardrobe.
What are some ways you can wear these colors? I’m glad you asked that question. InStyle magazine’s 2013 Color Issue is challenging us to embrace color in new ways and I couldn’t agree more. One way to rock these fabulous colors is to wear one color from head to toe. A monochromatic look in a hot hue is just as slimming as wearing all black. It’s fresh, bold, exciting and I can’t wait to try it.
Another way is to use color to enhance your shape. As I always say, bringing balance to your body is the key for any fabulous look. For example, the look below is great for pear shapes that want to slim their hips while adding the illusion of volume to the top half. The placement of the Chartreuse stripe is spot on while adding the perfect pop of color.
Finally, if you want to add another dimension to your color scheme or you still are not ready to display a head to toe bold look, add color with accessories. Shoes in bold hues and prints, eyeglasses in eye-popping colors, or handbags in the colors of the season are all ways to ease you into this bold trend. Choose what’s most comfortable for you and you can’t go wrong.
What will you try this spring? Leave a comment and let me know.
