The Most Wonderful Time of the Year

“It’s the most wonderful time of the year…”

-Sung by Andy Williams, an American singer

The holiday season is upon us. Soon you will begin shopping for holiday menu items and gifts for loved ones if you have not already. Another indicator of the season is an invitation to your (or your significant other’s) company holiday party. The combination of co-workers, end-of-year stress and mandatory fun can sometimes make for a less than pleasurable experience. However the level of unpleasantness reaches a palatable level when armed with an outfit that makes you look and feel utterly fabulous.

When planning for special events such as these, I have found that shopping well before the date of your event helps to guarantee your fashion success. I often find myself shopping for outfits two months in advance of special events. Do my friends sometimes tease me? Yes. Do I achieve my fashion goal instead of a fashion faux pas? Yes. Remember our bodies are unique. It may take time to find that perfect dress for your silhouette and have it altered down to “size you“. Also remember that the outfit you select depends on the location and formality of your affair.

Ready to find your perfect outfit for this holiday season? Below are some options for inspiration this holiday season.

Location: Office or restaurant

Timeframe: During the work day

Even though it is a normal work day, take this opportunity to spruce up your normal, everyday look with fun accessories.

Location: Restaurant

Timeframe: 5pm cocktail party

A holiday party that begins at the end of the workday leaves little time for a wardrobe change. Pack some additional accessories and festive shoes to add sparkle to your day-to-night dress.

Location: Country Club, hotel, etc.

Timeframe: Evening semi-formal/black tie affair

Weekend formal events are opportunities to really let yourself shine. Showcase your personality with color and details in feminine shapes.
