October is breast cancer awareness month. A time where we all come together to remember those who were lost and celebrate the survivors of this disease; united in pink solidarity. Here are my picks to help you show your support this month.
If you are a regular S&S follower you have heard me talk about making your style your own. A fun way to do that is by adding a monogram to your clothes and accessories. No longer just for the Muffy’s and Biff’s of the world; there is something for everyone. I just picked up this super cute Printed Zip Top Clutch from C. Wonder. I have been anxiously awaiting its arrival since I placed the order and I’m already in love. You can dress it up or down and I can’t wait to take it everywhere I go. Okay maybe not everywhere but you catch my drift.
If a clutch isn’t for you try another handbag, sweater, shirt, belt buckle or jewelry. There are several places out there for you to choose from and here is a short list to get you started.
Show me your monograms! Instagram me @stilettosandstatements .
My optimism wears heavy boots and is loud.

As the temperatures continue to fall we are getting closer to one of my favorite times of the year…BOOT SEASON! That’s right. Whether you like them over the knee or ankle height, stiletto or flat heel, open or closed toe, there is something for everyone. For me personally, after a certain point during the season I practically live in boots on a daily basis. There are so many options for corporate, casual and evening looks that the possibilities are endless. This year’s crop features some exciting new details and colors but maintains some classic looks for the more conservative fashionistas. Here are some of my favorites from this season.
Which one’s are you loving? Leave a comment and let me know.
The nude, barely there lip is hot for fall. It serves as the perfect accent to the smoky, sultry eyes of the season by allowing the focus to remain on the eye while maintaining a polished look. Check out these tips on how to achieve the perfect nude pout.
1. Exfoliate, Exfoliate, Exfoliate. (Did I mention exfoliate?) Nudes perform very best on a smooth base. Use a lip scrub to remove any excess/dead skin.
2. Use a primer. Primers are an awesome base for any cosmetic product. They give you staying power and provide a flawless face for hours.
3. Use a lip liner. Great for outlining your lips and preventing color bleed.
4. Choose a color that’s right for you. Select a nude shade that is close to your skin tone. If you’re not sure, ask an expert.
5. Choose your finish. A nude lip can either be semi-matte or glossy to prevent a dull look.

Jewelry takes people’s minds off your wrinkles.
-Sonja Henie, a Norwegian figure skater and film star
While I’m not currently battling wrinkles (thanks mom & dad), I couldn’t agree more with Sonja Henie. In addition to serving as a wrinkle-distraction, jewelry is a camouflage for those five pounds you gained on vacation; an accentuation for the best parts of you by drawing the eye away from problem areas. If you’re not concerned about any of those things jewelry still serves a purpose as the icing on the cake to your ensemble whether it be a sweater and leggings for the mall or a fabulous dress for date night. This season’s jewelry collections provide plenty of options for wrinkle-distraction as well as pieces that just make you feel happy and fabulous; full of color, new designs and materials you are sure to find something that suits your palate. Check out some of my favorites below.

Greetings from Las Vegas! Well the party kicked off last night with dinner followed by dancing into the wee hours. As we made our way back to the room I noticed how many of us were able to keep our stilettos on until crossing the threshold. Lack of shoe comfort can end your fun before you’re ready and kill your feet. Don’t let this happen to you! 😀Check out this video on how to make your shoes more comfortable.

What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas
-Anyone who has ever been to Vegas
Greetings from Montreal! I’m visiting the lovely French Canadian people and taking care of some business. I’ve been here for 48 hours and already consumed too many croissants. Anywho I’m here and working hard; something we all do on a daily basis. However when we work hard, we want to play hard too. And play is exactly what I shall do this weekend in Las Vegas. As with most of my vacations, I began planning my wardrobe a couple of weeks ago. There are a plethora of things to do or see in Vegas so I had to consider the question “what do I need to survive in
the wild Vegas?” That being said I present to you some items from the Stilettos & Statements Vegas Survival Guide.
It is HOT in the desert so a day spent relaxing poolside is a distinct possibility. Make no mistake, fashion abounds on the pool deck. Suits with bling and accompanying accessories are tres apropos. Below is an example of my personal pool style.
If you choose to partake in the Vegas shopping experience, skinnies, flats and a cotton top will keep you comfortable and casually cool.
Vegas features many different types of shows for your entertainment pleasure. A structured jumpsuit is the perfect piece to take you from the theater to a late night bite.
If you want to party until the sun comes up, Vegas is your kind of town and a sexy dress is your uniform for an epic night. Be bold in a hot hue like red or daring in a body conscious dress; peek-a-boo sexy in cut outs or edgy in leather; covert sexy in a high neckline or turn on the spotlight in sequins. You almost can’t go wrong.
So that’s my plan to “survive” the jungle known as Vegas. What are your go to Vegas survival items?

Happy Labor Day! I hope you have found some time this weekend to kick back and relax. Yesterday I was out enjoying the last bits of summer as well as my new fall ‘do.
It is bold, edgy yet sophisticated and fresh for fall. My reddish brown ombré locks are replaced by an asymmetrical bob with golden blonde and chocolate brown hues. While going through my metamorphosis I asked Marcia Williams, CEO of Embellish Beauty Concepts and creator of my new look, “what’s in for fall hair?” Here is the lowdown:
Change up your bright summer blond by adding deeper, golden lowlights and undertones. This will create a bold richness for fall.
Darker and richer hues like chestnut and chocolate brown are hot. Touches of gold or red enhance this autumnal look.
For those of you that thought you missed the ombré trend I have good news. Marcia says this trend remains hot for fall with a softer filter. Go for a deeper color at the root with gradual lightening that creates a soft blend.
Now let’s talk about hair styles. How should we look to coif our hair this fall? There are several options.
It is simple, effortless but evokes tons of style. Wear it messy, wear it sleek, wear it bouncy; just keep it low and simple.
Side Faux Bang
Thinking about bangs but not yet ready to commit? Try a faux bang. It gives a whole new take on the side part while providing a softer, sophisticated feel.
Big voluminous curls make a beautiful statement this fall. Curls are less defined and brushed out for a softer and fuller look.
Everyone loved the top knot bun of spring and summer. The bun trend continues but with uniformity and perfection. The bun for fall is messy and convoluted to your hearts desire while maintaining a level of chic that is still office appropriate.
Finally, what if someone wants to go for a completely new look? What are some of the hot cuts for fall?
Beyonce rocked this one for about two minutes but you should consider carrying this look into the spring season. It is a classic style seen from time to time through out the years but modernized.
There are a couple of options here if you are ready to commit. Soft bangs that are left long enough to curl or wispy bangs cut on an angle. Either way the move is drifting from the blunt cut to a softer feel.
Another classic (and the inspiration for my fall cut) is the short bob that hits just above the chin and frames the face. This style can be worn with either a soft or slightly edgy effect. For a soft feel, incorporate loose waves and curls. For edgy sophistication, go for a sleek and straighter look.
Before trying anything new you should consult a professional to determine the best color and cut for your skin tone and face shape. That being said, which trend are you looking forward to trying?
“Ninety percent of the time I’m having romantic-comedy fantasies in which I’m wearing little pencil skirts and hurrying down to the subway.” – Mindy Kaling, An American actress, comedian, writer, and producer
Well, I can’t say that I share Mindy’s rom-com fantasies but I do share her love of pencil skirts. It is a classic, timeless piece that never goes out of style. If I did not care much for variety I could almost wear one every day. For the upcoming fall season, skirts and sweaters are a hot trend, so the possibilities are endless.
Check out my ode to the pencil skirt along with some tips on how to make it work for you.
