“For every two minutes of glamour, there are eight hours of hard work.”
-Jessica Savitch, an American journalist
Those who know and love me are well aware of the fact that I LOVE to put on a pretty dress and celebrate just about anything. When I can’t wear one myself, the next best thing is to dress one of my clients in a pretty dress. Last week I had the privilege of dressing one such client for her first prom!
SF and her date discussed a color palette of black and red so we began the adventure looking for the perfect red dress. SF is big on personality but short in stature so we opted for a shorter, cocktail length to give her a taller appearance. After trying on a few options in red and a few other colors in various stores, SF had some favorites but was not completely sold on anything. We stopped in Bebe on our shopping excursion to see some of their options but found nothing that fit the bill in her color of choice. Instead I pulled a couple of options in black (when all else fails you can’t beat a perfect LBD). Once SF stepped out in the winning option, everyone knew it was perfect. A strapless sweetheart neck with a sequined bodice. The flirty bottom of the dress features feathers that add the perfect amount of glamour…gorgeous!
To compliment the dress we decided on black, ankle strap shoes from Call it Spring to accentuate her beautiful legs. I kept the accessories simple with just a pair of earrings from Ann Taylor to ensure no distractions from the beautiful dress. (Remember..sometimes less is more) A black, python leather clutch with a sparkly, panther closure from Aldo rounded out SF’s accoutrements.
SF’s hair stylist coiffed her short, curly do into a retro, modern updo; her manicure and pedicure done in a flirty red. For SF’s face, I recommended a sultry smoky eye that complimented the dress along with natural cheeks and lips.
When you put it all together SF looks gorgeous!
